Meet Laura Baker
Laura Baker, PMHNP-BC, FNP-BC is a dually licensed Psychiatric and Family nurse practitioner. She graduated from the University of Rochester with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1996 and a Master of Science in Nursing in 2001. She has worked in a variety of settings including primary care and substance use treatment. Laura has extensive experience managing a variety of psychiatric illnesses as well as substance use disorders. She is certified to prescribe buprenorphine and well versed in medication-assisted treatment for various substance use disorders.
In 2020, Laura saw the critical need for psychiatric and substance use providers in our community. She decided to be part of the solution and returned to school at the University of Rochester to complete an Advanced Masters Certificate in Psychiatry. She has a special interest in the management of substance use disorders as well as adolescents with depression and anxiety.
Laura is board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center in both Psychiatric Mental Health and Family Health. This well-rounded background enables Laura to look at patients from a more comprehensive perspective. She believes fiercely in patient-centered care and treating patients with the respect and dignity that they deserve.
Meet Capri Dix
Capri Dix is also a dually certified family and psychiatric nurse practitioner. She graduated from D’Youville College. She is board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center in both Psychiatric Mental Health and Family Health. She is available to see patients on Wednesday evenings as well as Sundays.
Meet Estelle Webster
Estelle is a psychiatric nurse practitioner who graduated from St. John Fisher University. She has a special interest in substance use disorder. She is also board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing center in Psychiatric Mental Health. She is available to see patients on Monday and Thursday.
Meet Tricia Berger
Tricia is a licensed mental heath counselor who graduated from the University of Rochester. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor she has worked with children, adolescents and adult struggling with a variety of mental health concerns for over a decade. She has knowledge and training in a multitude of therapist and will integrate strategies to best fit your needs. Her primary, evidence based, therapeutic approaches are Client-Centered, Cognitive Behavioral and Motivational Interviewing. Her primary focus will be on developing a positive therapeutic relationship was well as to create a space where you feel safe to communicate openly. Her goal is to help each individual gain insight and understanding of their thoughts and feelings develop coping strategies that will allow you to reach life goals and objectives. She is available to see patients Monday through Thursday as well as Saturday.
Meet Barb McCabe
Barb McCabe is a LCSW-R. She graduated from SUNY Brockport with a BSW and SUNY Albany with a MSW. She worked in the foster care Group Home and recovering focused Life House programs at St Joseph’s Villa with adolescent males and their families early in her career. She then worked for 30 years at Hillside in Rochester, NY as a social worker in a variety of programs as a social worker/clinician including foster care. And managing an OMH residential program. In recent years she worked as an outpatient and in home mental health therapist and clinical supervisor. She is trained in TF-CBT and DBT. She uses a person centered and family oriented approach to help people understand and manage their mental health, relationships, to identify and resolve life stressors and challenges and to achieve their personal and family goals. She is available Tuesday through Thursday.
Meet Erin Pixley Thurston
Erin Pixley Thurston, LCSW, brings over 20 years of experience working with children and families in mental health, medical, and non-profit settings. She earned her Master’s degree from Roberts Wesleyan College and holds a trauma certification from the University at Buffalo. Erin has extensive experience in both inpatient and outpatient care, with specializations in perinatal and postpartum mental health, as well as in domestic violence. She is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and has completed additional training in infant mental health. Erin spent 12 years with the Healthy Moms Program at Rochester Regional Health, eventually serving as Program Manager. Her experience includes individual and group therapy, as well as clinical supervision. Erin is committed to empowering individuals to be their healthiest selves, recognizing each person as the expert of their own experience. She is available to see patients every day and has some evening hours. She is currently out of network with all insurance companies and is available for private pay visits ($80 per session). We anticipate her being able to accept insurance in about by July 2024.
What is a nurse practitioner?
A nurse practitioner is a registered nurse with advanced education in a specialty area. Nurse practitioners have at least a masters degree in nursing and are trained in the diagnosis and treatment of many conditions.
